ONE Degree 15 Marina Club

One Degree 15 Marina Club. This place is posh.
An exclusive marine club for the rich and famous located at one end of Sentosa Island in Singapore, it overlooks the scenic harbor where member's yachts dock. Fancy cars and fancier yachts dotted the club. This supposed to only happen in your dreams!

We had a fabulous dinner during SH's wedding dinner here, again with special selection of wines for the buddies.(Night view of some Yacht docking at the the club. All docking space has been taken up and with membership fee costing 50888 sgd. I really need to switch to a better job with a juicier pay. Fat cat fat cat, i need to be a fat cat to afford such man's toys.
Jean Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge 1985
Nose: Amazing elegant. Very subtle oak. Non detectable alcohol, but very elegant, complex sweet licorice nose, with a tad herbal. Clean.
Palate: Elegant. This baby sings. Pure with minimal oak, almost undetectable, but a very nice length. Medium mouth feel. Light weight body but smooth end. Good length. Again, elegance, purity and harmony is the key here.

Verdict: It is close to 100% syrah and it is definitely a world apart from most syrah based wine. Chave stringent selection of grapes and the minimal usage of oak resulted an enormously elegant, smooth beauty. Minimal oak, minimal tannins, minimal acid, with nothing overpowering each other. This is harmony. However, retailed at 700sgd, this is only fit for a special occasion on corporate account.
Pork Ribs: Well roasted with a nice honeyed flavour. The meat was tender and juicy and paired extremely well with the red wine served (a bordeaux blend, ch reynier 2004 ) and brought out a nice mocha coffee note at the end palate.
Fried mee with Mushroom: Lacking of the wokhei compared to the ones from Kamboat, but it is still a good effort. Without excessive oil, the mushroom brings about a whiff of freshness. Clean taste.

The dishes were prepared by Imperial Treasure.
Most dishes were well made and of consistent quality. The services has been good as well. SH's wedding definitely had set a high benchmark for the others wedding in 2008 to follow.
I'll be attending another wedding at Fullerton Hotel tomorrow. We shall see!

PS: I'd tasted a Puligny Montrachet, Donhoff Riesling Kabinet, Ch Reynier and some other wines. I'll post up once i ascertain the label/year of wine tasted. btw, I could not recall if i'd tasted the Lafite 1988 opened tonight. :(
