Thirsty Valentines Night

The moon is red.
The town is buzzing with life with throngs of couples filling up every restaurants with mediocre food and exorbitantly priced food.

For some of us, we chose to seek refuge at the quiet little Burrow of Hermitage when Valentine day falls on our usual Thirsty Thursday night.

I could sense SH and gang are in the mood for expensive.
It means beyond my means.

Strawberries in special wine sauce: Jo and team served this to us while we were waiting for the rest to slowly congregate in the Burrow. Demona would love munching on this after her game of tennis tonight.

Tremblay Chablis Premier Cru Montmain 2005@70SGD: A superb Chablis with beautiful nose of butter cream. Palate was medium long with good purity. Clean. I love it so much i bought 2 bottles of this. Perfect for drinking now but it definitely will develop further with age. Ling WS, once you had progressed beyond Aussie red, I'll share this bottle with you.
Kistler Hudson Valley Chardonay 2002@200plus SGD: The top Chardonnay from America fermented on Burgundian style open top barrels. A unique intense nose of burnt rice, smoke. Whao..Complex! ?Beneath it is some cream and butter. A bit too expensive la.... but very pure and elegant.
Moss Wood Margaret River 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon@150SGD: WHAOOO! Beautiful pencil shavings, tobacco and leather nose. Fine grippy tannins and an ultra long finish. Could rival a good Paulliac. Similar style as a 1999 Vasse Felix Heytesbury Cabernet Sauvignon. I love Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon!!!
Trimbach Gewurtraminer 1998: An aged Alsace Gewurtraminer that you seldom get to see in the open market. Initial nose showed complex rose petal aroma Gewurtraminer is famous for intermingled with intense ginger spice and pear. Demona would love this nose! Finish was short but palate was medium sweet. Great nose! Already at it's peak. Drink up now!
Tignanello 1998 Super Tuscan@200plus sgd: The famous Super Tuscan Wine that has a strong following around the world. A blend of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc followed by malolactic fermentation and for a 14-month aging period.EF and Benny shared this bottle and we tasted this blind. Well, the nose was muted and palate was still filled with tannins. Not impressive. EF mentioned that 1998 is a weak year for Tignanello.....I should save my verdict on Tignanello till i tried the 1999/2001 or 2004.

Sassicaia 2003@expensive: Another big cult wine from Italy from the Tenuta San Guido Winery. Bordeaux Blend. Strong, big beautiful red fruits nose. Complex. Still young now but with a lot of promise. My first Sassicaia. Leo sponsored this bottle. Thank you Leo!

Moet Chandon Rose Vintage 1999@140sgd: Citrus sweet nose. A tad tipsy now and I did not record much. Bubbles are fine with a smooth entry. Slightly citrusy and sweet finish. Bu cuo!

Pulleraia 2004 Tuscan:@70sgd: Too young and a totally big fat wine. Everyone kinda avoided this. The ugly duckling of the night. Less than half a bottle consumed.

Another amazing line up... SH and gang has taken care most of the bill inclusive of dinner as the day after is their big fat bonus day.

Next year, Demona will be with me.
