Bosses Vivocity

The Bosses Restaurant (黑社会)is a modern chichi Chinese restaurant located in Vivocity. From the menu you could tell it's a generic/fusion Chinese cuisine offering anything from designer Chinese tea, Northern China noodles/cold cuts, Cantonese dim sum and what not.

The ambiance is modern and black. Apart from the waiter's white top, everything else is BLACK: black menu, black table, black chair, black floor. Black.

Tea Smoked Eggs Caviar@8SGD: Pretty nice presentation, however, I doubt this is properly smoked eggs as you could hardly taste/smell the burnt smokey fragrance of the real McCoy. The chef probably stir fry the egg with some rice/tea leafs instead of smoking the eggs. The egg white texture was not as firm as it should be. However, luckily all is not lost as the egg yolk was still in a semi liquid state. MMM,,, I still can't forget the excellent Tea Smoked Eggs in HK that I'd tried previously: Solid firm egg white bursting with smokey tea/sandalwood aroma with a moist rich egg yolk...

3 Eggs Silver Fish Fried Rice@9.80SGD: Triple Star dish of the night. Each rice was coated with salted egg yolks and fried till golden brown. The rice was fragrant and not sticky. The century eggs provided a good tart-ness and bite to the fried rice. The fried egg strips complete the family of Triple Eggs (century egg, salted egg and fried eggs)

Crispy Eggplant with flos@12SGD: Pretty ok dish. Slices of eggplant fried till crispy and topped with some pork floss. Somehow fried eggplant seems to be catching up in many restaurants in KL/SGP. For 1/4 the price, i could get a big plate of spicy fried eggplant from Mamak stalls in KL!

Fried Soft Shell Crab@12SGD: The worst dish of the night. The batter was too thick and overly fried. You could hardly taste the crab. I couldn't tell if its a crab or crap beneath the batter. For such price, this dish is a rip-off, just like how Barisan National has been ripping off all the Malaysians.

Big Leaf Pu Er@4SGD

Verdict:
Modern and chic environment with generic Chinese cuisine. The dishes are above average with an ok price. Try.
