Had a casual wine session with soohoo, edwin, benny and friends.
Following are the wines today
Corrison Cab Sauvignon 2000, Napa valley@sgd 40: Tobacco, spicy currant nose and slight leather, considerable alcohol heat. Probably needed >1hr decanting. rated 90points by Wine Spectator. Not too interesting.
Bodegas Salentein Cabernet Sauvginon 2002, , Argentina@ sgd 42: Top red wine of the night. Beautiful deep red colour. Enjoyable with complex Bordeaux nose of silky oak, leather, tobacco and a medium finish. Excellent value for money. Perfect for an enjoyable QPR wine. Taste it blind and you would likely to think it's from the old world.
BlackRock Chenin Blanc/Chardonnay/Viognier 2004, South Africa @ sgd 48: : Complex, oaky nose with mineral, kerosene, slight citrus. Oily buttery palate with some refreshing white petal in it. A truly heavy and complex nose/palate yet has a secondary floral note on the palate. Medium length. We taste this blind and soohoo offered a bottle of margaux 82 for guessing the varietal correctly. I got the region, country right, and my guess was chardonnay. Too bad it was 70 percent chenin blanc, 20 percent chardonnay. There goes my first margaux.
This wine is definitely a wonderful buy and would fool any experience wine drinker. Must buy!
