Demona: Having only 45 minutes left, we quickly browsed around the eateries to have a quick late lunch bite before I leave back to KL. Dogma was craving for something "Anyong Ha Seyoh", and Seoul Yummy caught our eyes. It is a casual dining korean restarant, with a see-through glass kitchen filled with tall white hat chefs busily cooking away. The waitresses were in cute Korean costumes, and a few of them were real Koreans as well. The restaurant was packed with customers, and its noise level was quite high. This place is suitable for a quick sit-eat-pay-leave meal.
Demona: A small bowl of Kimchi as an appetizer. (SGD 1.00). Both of us wiped it clean within 2 mouthfuls. TAK PUAS! Need.. more.. kimchi.. slurps.
Demona: My tongue is typically Malaysian. I need chilli, I need spice. That will make everything nice! This was the "SPICIEST" chilli that they can offer. It was more sweet than spicy. Oh well.. better than nothing. I couldn't not complain any more than this.
Demona: We shared a bowl of stir fried glass noodles with seafood and beef slices. (SGD 7.80) The glass noodles were a major letdown. The beef slices were pretty tender, and flavourful and this was the only worthy bit in the whole dish. The noodles were clumpy, sticky, agglutinating to each other. Despite its brownish colour, it was actually quite bland. The sweet chilli which we request became our SUPERHERO.
Demona: We ordered a plate of kimchi dumplings as well. (SGD 4.80) There were 4 pieces in one portion. The taste was strangely similar to our local "Chai Kueh" (Vegetable Cakes),which is made from gluten free flour, wrapping turnips and carrots stir fried with dried prawns/garlic.
The only difference was that the dumplings were pan fried rather than steamed like Chai Kuehs. I did not feel any Anyong-ness in this dish.
Demona: The bill came up to SGD 17.40. We were left unimpressed after the meal. The food which we tried did not make us yearn for another trip back here. I strongly doubt we will visit this place again in the near future. Unless, we have missed out something great from Seoul Yummy. Anyone out there knows if there is any worth trying?
