It was a lazy Sunday evening and Ed/S had organized an impromptu wine session . S prepared some fresh mussels in chive butter sauce, fresh Ciabatta from The Cellar door and cheese to go with our wines.
Fresh juicy mussels.
Cims de Porrera 1997: WOW, an amazing nose of leather and tobacca with excellent mineral tone. Moderate weight in body however, it was very harmonious and smooth. elegant. Dark chocolate and cheery in the mid palate and nose. Beautiful. Love to get hold of one of this soon. I had the 1999 last month and it was in much a primary state still. You need time for Cims de Porerra!
Le Haut Lieu Vouvray 1997: A very refreshing white with excellent minerals. Nose was complex with minor butter, citrus, lemon and good loads of minerals. Finish is long and the palate turn a tad honey at the end palate after much aerating. Good effort!
