Fernfield Wines Triple C Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Fernfield Wines Triple C Cabernet Sauvignon 2005@38SGD
Ok, this is quite a disappointment. I went into Bottles & Bottles at Marina one day browsing around and had a short chat with the manager. Knowing my distaste of overly extracted fruit bomb, the manager recommended a white burg ( bad producer) and this Fernfield wines, claiming that this new world wine has all the elements i am looking for: Elegance, some pencil shavings, clean and vastly different from typical Aussie red ( with the exception of MossWood, Vasse Felix, Voyager etc). OK i bought one and tried it.

The winemakers note of the CCC cabernet Sauvignon:
Aged in French oak, this wine is very fruit driven for a Cabernet Sauvignon. It has all the structure and strength of a great Cabernet.

ACCOLADES:

  • Bronze Medal Barossa Wine Show 2007

This is my note:
Pooi, overly extracted fruit bomb, so typical of Aussie red. No harmony but tongue slashing tannins. Lots of prunish berry. Left in the fridge overnight and not much improvement. Some hints of vege and leather on the second day. Dun bother.

I have tried this wine and it is fabulous!!! So much fruit and so in balance. Tough enough to go with the reat meat I devoured with it...an excellent classy wine.
