A pretty good wine tasting session at Denise Wine today. First up was the
M Chapoutier Gigondas 2005@50SGD: This Rhone blend was surprisingly clean. Nose of sweet licorice, figs. Absent of disturbing spice and alcohol heat. Good clean palate as well with pleasant tannins. Good value and effort for this 2005 vintage!Next is the Cabernet from Chile:
Los Vascos Grande Reserve 2006: Nose filled with green vegetable note + spices and tinge of leather. I was quite distracted by the green herbal note. After 40min decanting still has the green herb note. Pretty disjointed now. Murdoch Cabernet Sauvignon Coonawarra 2004: A nice cabernet from Austrialia Coonawarra region. Nose of chocolate, and watered down graphite and sweet licorice. Palate was medium with good length.Tannins was noticable. Could benefit from longer decanting or ageing.
K prepared some food to go with the wines:Shoulder ham
Shoulder ham + brie on thin crackers
Beef with cracked peppers
Cherry tomatoes
